Outland Camps is currently offering exciting job opportunities, specifically for our kitchen staff, with a focus on the position of Chef in Yellowknife, North West Territories Operations.

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic team players who have a passion for culinary excellence and are eager to take on the challenge at our Stanton Hospital station in Yellowknife, NWT.

We provide a unique opportunity that allows you to create delectable dishes from scratch while efficiently managing kitchen operations and maintaining food and budgetary standards. The ideal candidate for this role should be an experienced and skilled Chef capable of delivering a remarkable dining experience for up to 200 customers.

Key Responsibilities of the Outland Camps Chef:

  • Supervise all kitchen operations, including menu planning.
  • Manage inventory and procurement.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to the kitchen staff, including shift scheduling, training, mentoring, coaching, task delegation, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager and Regional Chef to achieve individual and company objectives.
  • Maintain open communication and productive relationships with Outland’s clients and customers.
  • Ensure overall satisfaction with the kitchen and dining facility’s service, cleanliness, and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Chef or Sous Chef role, with expertise in inventory management and cost control.
  • Experience in camp, lodging, or restaurant management is a valuable asset.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Journeyman Red Seal and First Aid certification.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office.
  • Must pass a satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
  • Positive attitude, impeccable work ethics, organizational skills, and the ability to adhere to and establish high standards.

Physical Demands for the Outland Camps Chef: The Chef will be required to perform a variety of physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Climbing ladders or stairs may be necessary. The role may involve standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, or sitting for extended periods. It may also require performing repetitive handwork that involves full use of both hands and working with arms above shoulder height.

Work Schedule and Compensation: The Outland Camps Chef typically follows a rotational work schedule, which may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Specific details about compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
