Carpenter Responsibilities at the Catholic District School Board: The successful candidates for the Carpenter role at the Catholic District School Board will report to the Facilities Supervisor and will be responsible for various maintenance services, including:

  • Repairing millwork, furniture, and various equipment types
  • Refurbishing portables
  • Door hardware repairs
  • Safe operation and maintenance of company vehicles, as well as the safekeeping of tools provided by the Board
  • Maintaining accurate records such as work orders, timesheets, vehicle maintenance, and mileage reports
  • Execution of other job-related duties as assigned
  • Mandatory use of safety protective equipment at all times

Skills and Experience: Applicants should be skilled tradespeople with substantial knowledge of the building trades, accompanied by a minimum of five years of practical experience in construction, maintenance, or the service industry. Technical knowledge of building materials and their applications is essential, as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Education/Qualifications: Candidates must possess a General Carpentry Certificate of Competence from the Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development, which should be included with the application. Proficiency in the English language is preferred to understand manuals and maintain work records. A valid Ontario Driver’s “G” License and access to a reliable automobile are necessary, and proof of a good driving record will be required before an interview is scheduled.
