North Slope Borough, AK – Barrow, Alaska, is currently accepting applications for the Office Clerk position. We are seeking an ideal candidate who will be responsible for a range of routine clerical and administrative tasks, including typing, phone communication, record keeping, correspondence preparation, and document processing.

Key Responsibilities of the Office Clerk

  • Perform various routine clerical duties, such as typing, record keeping, and answering phones.
  • Prepare correspondence and process various documents, including schedules, work orders, invoices, purchase orders, timesheets, reports, and revenue deposits.
  • Operate equipment in the department as required.
  • Make trips to the post office for mail and money orders.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to possess the following:

  • Knowledge of the North Slope Borough organization, its operational procedures, and policies.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.

Education, Experience, Certifications, and Required Licenses:

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D, or a combination of 12 years of education and relevant work experience.
  • Inupiat Speaking (ONLY at A&F Tax Audit/Assessing Division).
  • The ability to successfully complete an FBI fingerprint background check within 60 days of employment (Police only).
